Professional school counselors are dedicated to promoting a positive school environment and improving the academic achievements of all students. Counselors help eliminate barriers to success by facilitating access to information, resources and support services appropriate to each student's needs.
Professional school counselors assist students in planning, monitoring, and understanding their own educational and personal development. They play an important role in helping students explore academic options and transition from one grade level to the next.
Professional school counselors also provide individual and group counseling for students whose personal concerns or problems put their personal, social, career and/or educational development at risk.

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
Hello MDE Family!
My name is Brandy Boza. I am your counselor at Memorial Drive Elementary! I wanted to take a moment to tell you a bit about myself. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M Corpus Christi and my Master’s in Education-Counseling from St. Thomas University. This year will be my 20th year in education and my 16th year in SBISD. Over the course of my career, I have learned that where students are emotionally/socially has a direct impact on their academic performance. I believe healthy, positive relationships with students, staff, and families are the basis for personal growth.
I look forward to meeting everyone and getting to know you all. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I am here to help.
Warm Regards,
Brandy Boza
