Memorial Drive Headlines

Calling Big and Lil' Cowboys to the MDE Dads & Donuts: Thursday, January 31st at 7:15 am

Everyone is invited to this fun morning in the MDE cafeteria for students and their adult guest.  Donuts will be provided for children and their accompanying adult.  Only 1 donut per child, please.  Raffle tickets for the grand prize 2018 BMW 320i will be available to buy!

Family Art Night

Thursday, January 24th from 5 p.m.- 6 p.m.

Come to this once-a-year event sponsored by the MDE PTA and create artwork with your kiddo(s) by trying a variety of artistic mediums and techniques.

There will be several different stations including Marble painting, Straw and Pipe sculpture, Printmaking, Bubble painting, Model Magic and more. There will be plenty of room to move freely from station to station.

Join the fun in the school cafeteria!

Please dress in old clothes in case you get messy!

Get your picture taken in front of an artist easel as you dress up and paint with a large palette and a big brush on canvas! This is a free event for MDE students and families.

Parent U: Supporting Success for Every Child (PreK-5)

Don’t miss our annual Parent U: Supporting Success for Every Child on Saturday, Oct. 20. It’s never too early to start planning for your child’s T-2-4 success! Learn how to support your student outside of the classroom to help them reach their full potential. During this half-day program, district and area experts will host classes on important topics for elementary parents, including:

  • School Choice
  • Family Access
  • Parenting the Love and Logic Way
  • Critical Thinking at Home
  • Internet Safety
  • Safety in Schools
  • and many more!

What classes are available? Parent U offers more than 30 classes in English and Spanish.

Families and mentors are a critical part of helping students make connections between what is learned at school and what they experience outside campus walls. We welcome and encourage parents, families, and mentors to partner with us!

The new Empowered & Equipped! site features resources to support conversations and activities at home, and in the community, with monthly lessons aligned to SBISD instruction. These lessons focus on the critical areas of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)and building awareness of various career pathways as part of the Spring Branch T-2-4 Goal.

Memorial Drive Elementary is looking for a new community member and a new business member to join our Campus Advisory Team (CIT).

The community member shall reside in the District and must be at least 18 years old. It may not be a parent.

A business representative is defined by anyone representing a business who has regular and supportive relationship with student in the district. It may not be a parent. This person does not have to reside in district, nor does their business need to be located in the district. 

The CIT collaborates to create goals and discuss best practices for our campus. If you are interested, please direct inquiries to Alix Harrington .

Back to School 2018

It’s hard to believe that it is almost time for the 2018-19 school year to begin, but it is just around the corner. We hope you have had an enjoyable summer with family and friends. Our educators and staff are looking forward to welcoming our students to school in August.

The first day of school is Thursday, August 16.
